The firm

A small firm, on purpose.

Founded in 2008 and deliberately small, so the partner who wins the work does the work.

Partners, each leading their own work

People in the firm, and no pyramid

The partners

The people you will actually meet.

Every engagement is led by one of five partners, from the first conversation to the final memo.

Portrait of Eleanor Hallam

Founding Partner

Eleanor Hallam

Eleanor founded Hallam in 2008 after twelve years in corporate strategy. She works mainly with boards on questions of direction, succession, and when not to grow.

Portrait of Michael Brennan

Michael Brennan

Partner

Michael leads our work with industrial and logistics clients. Before Hallam he ran operations for a mid-market manufacturer, which still shapes how he thinks about plans that have to survive contact with a factory floor.

Portrait of Amara Okafor

Amara Okafor

Partner

Amara advises founder-led and family-owned businesses on ownership, governance, and the transitions between generations. She joined Hallam from a private bank.

Portrait of Sarah Whitfield

Sarah Whitfield

Partner

Sarah leads our transaction work. Fifteen years across corporate development and private equity taught her that the best deal is frequently the one declined.

Portrait of Margaret Ellison

Margaret Ellison

Partner

Margaret works with regulated businesses — lenders, insurers, utilities — where the strategy and the supervisory story have to be the same document.

The team

Behind every partner, the evidence.

Principals and associates build the analysis, and sit in the room with you too.

Portrait of Thomas Wren

Thomas Wren

Principal

Thomas builds the evidence behind our recommendations — market analysis, pricing work, and the financial modelling that tells a board what a decision actually costs.

Portrait of Priya Raman

Priya Raman

Principal

Priya runs the evidence behind our consumer and retail engagements: pricing studies, customer economics, and the arithmetic of brand portfolios.

Portrait of James Calloway

James Calloway

Associate

James joined from an economics doctorate and a consulting career he decided against. He builds the models, and asks the naive questions that turn out not to be.

Portrait of Helena Voss

Helena Voss

Associate

Helena supports our governance and succession work, and keeps the firm’s interview practice honest — same questions, every witness, no leading.

Meet a partner

A partner, not a pitch team.

Your first conversation is with a partner who would lead the work. It costs nothing.
